Ben Walker’s Tiny, Tiny Album

A short one today, as I’m ill as hell.  My old friend Ben Walker has, as part of his daft Write 50 songs in 90 days challenge, run out of time.   If you know Ben at all, this probably won’t come as much of a surprise.  So, to catch up on the 30-or-so songs he needed to get back on track, he’s written 12 songs of 12 seconds length each, and plopped them all on 12 Seconds (another one of those sites in which you can tell the Electroweb what you’re up to).

Listen to it, as it’s fun; haiku-like, often.  There’s a video of them all, and lengthy discussion of the philosophy of it all, viewable by clicking here.  But, curiously, at no point does Ben think that he’s copping out or cheating by not writing full-length songs.  Interesting, eh Ben?  Hmm?  Cheating, is it?  Hmm?

Hey. There’s no such thing as cheating in the 50/90! You set your own targets, move the goalposts when you like and bask in the dim glow of insane productivity.

Seriously, if you check out the 50/90, you’ll find that the “really short song” technique is quite common. There’s one guy who uploaded 92 songs in the first day. They were all very short. And very stupid. So I’m in good company.

It’s nice to know someone’s watching this. As far as follow-up singles go, it’s maybe not the catchiest. But what’s the point if you can’t constantly annoy people with your creative inconsistency?

    Get well soon…
